Congratulations to WVFD's firefighter Erika Stocker for receiving the State of Vermont Governor's Award for Outstanding Community Service. Erika also graduated from junior to senior firefighter in April! Erika is a 2010 Mill River Union High School graduate and has plans for college this fall.

WVFD's Annual Tag Sale -- Saturday, June 19, 2010

The Wallingford Volunteer Fire Department will conduct their annual tag sale on Saturday, June 19, 2010 from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm at the firehouse at 17 Railroad Street in Wallingford, Vermont.

The WVFD is now accepting donations for their annual tag sale. Please contact department members to schedule a drop off or pick up of your donated items.

The WVFD is also looking for participants to join them for a day of town-wide tag sales on the same day. Vendors can opt to be included on the town-wide map for a fee of $5.00.

WVFD's Chicken BBQ Saturday, May 22, 2010 1-7 PM

Chicken BBQ hosted by the volunteer members of WVFD. Everyone welcome and be sure to invite your friends! Only $8 for a full meal which besides a large helping of chicken includes macaroni salad, roll, baked beans, dessert, and a drink! $5 kid's meals. $5 for just a half chicken. Eat in or take out available. From 1:00 to 7:00 pm at the firehouse (17 Railroad Street, Wallingford, VT). See you there!

WVFD's 2010 Spring Bottle Drive Saturday March 27th

The Wallingford Volunteer Fire Department members will conduct their spring bottle drive on Saturday, March 27, 2010 from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Firefighters will be knocking on doors asking for contributions of empty returnable cans and bottles. People can also drop off their returnables at the firehouse at 17 Railroad Street in Wallingford, Vermont. Any and all contributions will be greatly appreciated. Funds are used for the fire department's ongoing projects, upkeep and activities such as Wallingford Fun Day.

If you have returnables to donate but can't bring them to the firehouse give the fire department a call at 446-2295 or email the WVFD at wvfd3300@yahoo.com and your contribution will be picked up. Don't have any returnables to donate but still want to contribute? No problem. Wallingford High School shop burns...WVFD goes into action

The shop still stands today thanks to the WVFD and now houses a drywall business. What are now the Victorian Inn and Mom's Country Kitchen can be seen in the background.

This photo is in the WVFD's archives. It is believed these fellows are members of the early fire department. The back of the photo identifies some members in this photo as First Chief Cornelius Howly* (?), Ken Brown, Paul Mourey* (?), Ralph Congdon and Ralph Goulet. The date is 1924. Anyone know who these fellows were or where this photo was taken?

Community made 2009 holidays special for WVFD firefighters and their families

Members of the Wallingford community combined efforts in December to make the holiday season special for the WVFD firefighters and their families. Members of the Congregational Church of Wallingford, Anna Q's Attic and others provided gifts for the children and much needed cold weather items, such as socks and gloves, for the firefighters. Firefighters and their families provided a pot luck dinner for the occasion and the meeting room at the firehouse was decorated for the celebration.
